Disks on their way

08:59 on Monday morning and Elkparts have dispatched the disks for delivery tomorrow. Another good response time; I can recommend this company for Saab parts, both for price and for Saab knowledge should you have any questions. Just need to decide where to get to do the brake work, and then do the bedding-on properly…

DS2500 arrived

That was quick. Phoned circuit supplies at 16:00 on Friday. Pads arrive 08:45 on Saturday. Can’t complain about that. Elkparts have yet to process my order for new disks, hopefully that won’t take too long. With 19 days until the Ring trip, I need to get the brakes done and bedded-in. The DS2500s look nice, … Read more

Fitting/bedding in DS2500 pads

I want to get the bedding in right this time, so have been collecting info on the fitting and bedding in process. http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28285&p=234503&hilit=ds2500#p234503 “for the fronts, you,ll see a small shoulder step on the end lugs, if you file it flush i.e. take off the step it fits” “Do exactly what it says on the … Read more

MOT

Had the Saab MOT’d today. Just under 3 weeks until I set off for the Ring. Sadly the MOT did not go as smoothly as I would have liked, with two advisories. Non-advisories first: They had to adjust the headlights a bit, but that doesn’t really worry me. Apparently it took a while to get … Read more

Rainy

Now my car leads a garaged life I am becoming paranoid about it getting dirty. I am even leaving the MOT test until a day when I am sure it won’t rain. Friday looks good for that. It isn’t so much fear of it getting dirty, it is wanting to avoid the cleaning that necessarily … Read more

Garaged life

Since going in the garage, the car has been out twice. If getting it in is tricky, getting it out is doubly so… No way I could do this by myself, not if I wanted to keep my bodywork intact. First trip was to take 3 friends for a pub lunch, given the other option … Read more

Doh and Doh again

Since fuel now costs ridiculous amounts, mainly due to tax, I have been making an effort to drive less 🙁 The Saab has therefore done relatively little, only going out once/week. Managed some good mpg coming back from Gloucester and sitting at 55mph on the M5 with the lorries… Didn’t reset the trip computer but … Read more

Service at WMSS

Saab has its pre-Ring service today at West Midland Saab Specialists Just under 2 months to go, so I wanted to have an early check as to whether there were any issues. It has an MOT due not long before the trip, so that will do as a later trip. Drive up was ok, they … Read more

Rust Repairs number 2

A few weeks ago I noticed some bubbling under the paint on the front drivers side wing. This time below the trip line at the rear of the wing. This is annoying since it isn’t long ago that I had rust at the top of the wing repaired. On Monday took the car to the … Read more

Catch-up

Had some funny effects going on with the car. On a couple of occasions the idle has been high – 1100rpm rather than 850 rpm. Then when the gt was driving it the check engien light came on. All else was fien so she brought it home. Flash code analysis showed that 5 flashes was … Read more
